Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department’s South Traffic Division Detectives have been investigating a felony hit and run traffic collision, which resulted in the death of a 47 year-old motorcyclist.
On October 20, 2003, Derrick Norwood was riding his motorcycle through the intersection of 46th Street and St. Andrews Place, when the suspect made an unsafe left turn and collided with Mr. Norwood. As a result of the collision, Mr. Norwood received severe injuries that left him paralyzed from the neck down. On February 26, 2004, Mr. Norwood died from his injuries.
Councilman Parks presented a reward request to the Los Angeles City Council and had the reward motion adopted on January 4, 2005, for the arrest and conviction of the suspect.
Mr. Norwood’s family members will be present during the news conference.
