News Conference to Thank Holiday Toy Donors

December 1, 2005

What:
News conference to Thank Holiday Toy Donors
When:
Friday, December 2, 2005, at 9:30 AM
Where:
Rampart Area Police Station
2710 West Temple Street, Los Angeles

Who:

Captain Debra McCarthy,
Commanding Officer, Rampart Area
Mr. Williams Dougherty, Major Properties

Why:
Rampart Area Community Relations Office will hold a press conference to acknowledge the donation of several thousand new toys.  The first major donation is from Mr. Jeff Luster of Major Properties, a Los Angeles property management business.

This year, as in years past, Rampart Area will collect donated toys for distribution to the less fortunate Rampart Area families with young children.  Other donations have been accepted from the Applause Toy Company and more donations will be accepted, next week, from the California Insurance Auditor Managers Association.
At this time, this event is not a request for more toy donations for Rampart Area.  It is intended to thank those who have already donated, or arranged to donate, toys to Rampart Area.  Potential donors can contact their own local police divisions, or nearby churches.  Rampart Area personnel are well aware that this year, with the influx of families displaced by Hurricane Katrina, that there are many other organizations that can make use of donations of toys, food, or cash.

Mr. Dougherty is also a member of both the Rampart Area Booster Association and the Rampart Community Police Advisory Board (CPAB).
Officer Manuel Vides will be on hand to handle inquiries from the Spanish media.  For further information contact Sergeant Keith Moreland, Rampart Area Community Relations Office, at 213-847-1903.
