Non-Tactical Unintentional Discharge in Central Division NRF006-26ma

Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department’s (LAPD) Force Investigation Division is investigating a Law Enforcement Related Injury (LERI) that occurred in Central Division.

On January 28, 2026, around 5:50 a.m., an on-duty police officer assigned to Central Division was in the Resource Enhancement Services and Enforcement Team (RESET) office preparing for roll call. While inspecting a privately owned handgun, the officer experienced a Non-Tactical Unintentional Discharge (NTUD). There were no injuries reported as a result of this incident. Force Investigation Division (FID) investigators responded to the scene and are investigating this incident.
