Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department’s (LAPD) Force Investigation Division is investigating a Non Tactical Unintentional Discharge (NTUD) that occurred in Southwest Division.
On March 21, 2026, at around 11:00 p.m., uniformed officers from Southwest Patrol Division conducted a traffic stop that resulted in the arrest of two suspects for possession of firearms. The officers were unable to unload one of the firearms recovered from their investigation and transported it to the station. While in the parking lot of Southwest Community Police Station, another officer pointed the firearm at the ground and attempted to unload it. During this process, a Non-Tactical Unintentional Discharge (NTUD) occurred. Neither an impact nor a projectile were located.
There were no injuries reported as a result of this incident.
Force Investigation Division (FID) investigators responded to the scene and are investigating this incident.
