Non-Tactical Unintentional Discharge (NTUD) NRF030-25bb

On July 1, 2025, at around 4:30 p.m., an off-duty Sergeant assigned to West Los Angeles Division, was inside a nonadjacent workshop to the rear of his residence located outside the City of Los Angeles. The Sergeant was conducting maintenance on his personally owned firearm when a Non-Tactical Unintentional Discharge occurred. The bullet grazed the Sergeant’s left forearm, then struck the door frame of the structure, where it became embedded. The Sergeant declined medical attention.

No community members were injured as a result of this incident.

Force Investigation Division (FID) investigators responded to the scene and are investigating this incident.
