Northeast Officers Crash into a Skateboarder NRM25-12ma

Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD)Multi-Disciplinary Collision Investigation Team (MCIT) is investigating the circumstances following a fatal crash that caused the death of a man who was skateboarding on the roadway.

On September 19, 2025, around 7:10 pm, an LAPD Northeast Patrol Unit was responding Code Three to a perimeter request of a Code Six Charles (felony) suspect. As the officers were responding northbound on Figueroa Street, they were in the center median, at which time a pedestrian on a skateboard was riding southbound in the center median, causing both parties to crash into each other. The roadway on this stretch of Figueroa Street curves by Sycamore Grove Park, and the street lighting was limited.

After the crash, community members and officers responded and rendered aid to the pedestrian. The Los Angeles Fire Department responded and rendered aid, but was unable to revive the pedestrian. The coroner investigator arrived and was able to identify the pedestrian. The Coroner’s Office has advised the next of kin. The LAPD’s Family Liaison Unit was on-scene and is also assisting.
