Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department’s (LAPD) Force Investigation Division is investigating an off-duty non-tactical unintentional discharge involving a reserve officer.
On February 3, 2026, around 9:20 a.m., an off-duty Reserve Police Officer assigned to Operations West Bureau was inside his residence preparing for his monthly combat qualification by conducting dry-fire practice drills when a Non-Tactical Unintentional Discharge occurred. There were no injuries reported. No community members were injured in this incident.
Force Investigation Division (FID) personnel have assumed investigative responsibility for this incident.
