Officer-Involved Shooting in Southeast Division

Los Angeles: A man was shot after he fired at officers who were serving a search warrant at his house in the 200 block of West 89th Street on Thursday, April 27, 2006.

Gang officers, assigned to Southeast Police Station, converged on the house at 222 ½ West 89th Street, just before 6 AM to serve a search warrant related to a narcotics investigation.

Officers knocked and gave notice. As they entered the premises, the subject of the search warrant, 23-year-old Glen Lami, fired at least one round at the officers.

Three officers returned fire, hitting Lami. He was taken to California Hospital and treated for multiple gunshot wounds.

Detectives from the Force Investigation Division found the suspect’s gun, a 9mm semi-automatic handgun, at the scene.

No officers were injured in the shooting.

The following officers fired their weapons:

• Police Officer II Patrick Flaherty – 8 years with LAPD – 36 years old
• Police Officer II Jaime Luna – 8 years with LAPD – 31 years old
• Police Officer II Erik Shear – 8 years with LAPD – 32 years old
