UPDATE

On Monday, December 22, 2025, the Chief of Police authorized the release of the officer(s) name(s) who were involved in an Officer Involved Shooting, that occurred on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, in Topanga Area. The Topanga Area Officer(s) involved was: Police Officer II Jenny Angeles, Serial No. 44603.

Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department’s (LAPD) Force Investigation Division is investigating an Officer-Involved Shooting (OIS) that occurred in Topanga Division.

On December 16, 2025, at around 2:10 a.m., Topanga Patrol Division uniformed officers responded to multiple radio calls that were generated for a ‘459 Hot Prowl Suspect There Now’ at an apartment complex in the 20300 block of Saticoy Street.

The comments of the call indicated the suspect, later identified as 39-year-old Edgar Ramirez, was breaking windows, had entered an apartment, and was armed with a bat. Upon the officers’ arrival, they responded to the 2nd floor of the complex, where they encountered Ramirez exiting an apartment armed with a metal pole.

The officers gave Ramirez multiple commands to drop the pole, but he failed to comply. An officer deployed a TASER, which was ineffective. Ramirez advanced towards them when an Officer-Involved Shooting occurred. Ramirez was struck by gunfire, but he did not immediately submit to arrest. Officers brought Ramirez to the ground and shortly thereafter, he was taken into custody without further incident.

Ramirez was transported by rescue ambulance to a local hospital, where he was treated and released for his injury. Two community members were injured as a result of their contact with Ramirez during the 459 Hot Prowl. One of them was transported by rescue ambulance to a local hospital, where he was treated and released for a laceration to his hand. The second sustained a minor injury to his lower leg.

A metal pole was recovered at scene and booked as evidence. One of the officers sustained minor abrasions to her knees during the incident. No other officers were injured as a result of this occurrence.
