Officers and Community Members Honored for Community Service

Universal City – On Wednesday, October 18, 2000, at 6:30 p.m., the Law Enforcement Association of Asian Pacific (LEAAP) will be having their Awards Banquet at the Universal Hilton and Towers in Universal City. Nineteen individuals will be honored for their dedication to community service and exemplary leadership. The list includes three Los Angeles Police Department Captains (Paul Kim, Terry Hara and James McDonald), three Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Captains (Arthur Ng, Paul Tanaka and Alexander Yim), Ventura County Chief Deputy Dante Honorico, four command officers from the San Francisco Police Department, Assistance Chief Norman Wong from Houston Police Department, and four community leaders (John Y. Lee, Margaret Endo Shimada, Pashree Superpat, and May To).

Los Angeles Police Chief Bernard C. Parks, Los Angeles County Sheriff Leroy Baca, Monterey Park Police Chief Daniel Cross, Ventura County Sheriff Bill Brooks and San Francisco Police Chief Fred Lau will be in attendance to present awards to the nineteen individuals.

The Mistress of Ceremony for this prestigious event will be KTLA Channel 5 Morning News Anchor, Ms. Sharon Tay.
