Los Angeles: Four people were shot and one died Monday afternoon in southwest Los Angeles.
On July 30, 2007, around 5:15 p.m., a group of approximately ten females were gathered in the cul-de-sac of West View Street, just north of Adams Boulevard. A vehicle with an unknown number of occupants stopped and confronted the group. An altercation ensued and multiple gunshots were fired.
Shantell Martinez, a female Hispanic, 18, was struck by gunfire. She was rushed to a local hospital by LAFD paramedics. She succumbed to her injuries at 8:30 p.m. Also hit were two Black females, Laniece Dalcour, 20, and Jaylia Muhammand, 19. Both transported to the hospital for serious but not life-threatening injuries. Adrian Timothy Wade, a male Black, 22, was treated for injuries and released.
The suspects were described only as three Black males, 19-21 years of age. The crime does not appear to have been gang related.
