WHY:
The Los Angeles Police Department Newton Area Police Athletic and Activities League (PAAL) and the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles (HACLA) have come together in a partnership to invest in the children of our future.  We have made the commitment to serve the children and families of the community of the Pueblo Del Rio Housing Development and the surrounding South Los Angeles area.

Newton PAAL’s mission is to divert the youth of our city away from gangs and criminal activity by providing a wide variety of positive recreational activities under the supervision of trained police officers and motivated volunteers.

Newton PAAL is not just any program offering after school activities. What makes PAAL unique is the interaction between police officers, the children in this program, their families, and the greater community. These interactions cement a bond between law enforcement and the community that is imperative in establishing a trusting relationship.
