Open House Showcases LAPD’s Equestrians

Atwater: The Metropolitan Division Mounted Platoon will host their Annual Open House on Saturday, September 8, 2001, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The event will be held at the Ahmanson Equestrian Facility, 3924 Rigali Street, Los Angeles.
This promises to be an exciting event where everyone will have an opportunity to tour the state-of-the-art equestrian center, observe demonstrations of expert crowd management techniques and horse handling skills. Displays from many of the Department’s specialized units and other governmental agencies will also be available for viewing.
The Los Angeles Police Equestrian Foundation are the sponsors of this event and consists of community volunteers, who are committed to ensuring the safety and security of the people of Los Angeles. The Mounted Platoon provides the policing of the City of Los Angeles from horseback. The men and women of the Mounted Platoon are responsible for crime prevention, reduction of violent crime, crowd management, crowd control and search and rescue.
Refreshments will be served and souvenirs will be available for purchase.
