Party Altercation Results in one Dead; 2 Injured

Los Angeles: On Sunday, September 28, 2003, at about 1:10 a.m., Newton patrol officers responded to a radio call of a shooting in the 100 block of East 57th Street. When the officers arrived, they discovered two shooting victims at the scene and received information that a third victim had been transported to a local hospital by a private vehicle.
The investigation revealed that all three victims were attending a party when a physical altercation broke out. Two unidentified partygoers armed themselves and started shooting. During the shooting, Anna Vasquez 16-years of age and two 17-year olds were shot. Vasquez died at a local hospital and the two 17-year old males were listed in stable condition. The suspects are described as male Hispanics and appear to be gang members.
The motive and the suspect’s identity are unknown at this time.
