Passerby Reports Two Victims Down on Street

June 12, 2000

Los Angeles: On Monday June 12, 2000, between 4:30 AM and 5:30 AM, Northeast Area uniformed officers responded to a radio call in the 4300 Block of Clayton Street. Upon arrival at the location, the officers found two male victims, dead and lying on the street. Preliminary investigation revealed that the victims suffered from either gunshot or blunt force trauma to the upper extremities.

After responding to the 4300 Block of Clayton Street, officers received information of a traffic collision in the area of Santa Monica Boulevard and Ridgewood Place. Officers responded to the scene of the traffic collision and discovered evidence at this scene, causing them to surmise that there may be a link between this scene and the scene where the two victims were located. A review of the vehicle’s Department of Motor Vehicles record links the vehicle to one of the victims. The victims’ identities are being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The victims are described as one male Black and one male White; both in their mid to late 20s.

The investigation is being handled by homicide detectives from Northeast Operations Support Division. Anyone with information regarding these crimes is asked to contact detectives at 213-847-4261.
