"Pedestrian Dies As a Result of a Traffic Collision"

Los Angeles: On September 28, 2000, at approximately 7:00 P.M., a fatal traffic collision occurred at the intersection of Oxford Avenue and 5th Street. Heung Young Lee, a 40 year-old resident of Los Angeles, was travelling northbound on Oxford Avenue in a 1996 Dodge van when he collided with a pedestrian who was crossing eastbound on the north side of 4th Street. The pedestrian was accompanied by an adult and several juvenile witnesses.

The pedestrian, a four-year old male, was transported by a Los Angeles City Rescue Ambulance to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. The witnesses were interviewed at the scene. The driver was interviewed and released at the scene and was not cited; however the investigation is on-going. This collision is being investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department West Traffic Division.
