West Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department West Traffic Division detectives are asking for the public’s help in providing any information that would lead to the identification and arrest of the suspect involved in a fatal hit and run traffic collision that killed a 39-year-old male resident of Los Angeles.
On December 15, 2018, around 10:15 p.m., a pedestrian was crossing southbound Sunset Boulevard east of Mapleton Drive outside of an unmarked crosswalk. As the pedestrian crossed southbound Sunset Boulevard, he was struck by an unknown vehicle going eastbound on Sunset Boulevard.
The driver of the unknown vehicle failed to stop, identify themselves and render aid at the scene of a traffic collision as required by law.
The Los Angeles Fire Department Paramedics responded to the scene and provided medical treatment to the victim, who died at scene from his injuries.
The investigation is ongoing and notification to next of kin is still pending.
On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and created a Hit and Run Reward Program Trust Fund. A reward of up to $25,000 is available to community members who provide information leading to the offender’s identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.
