Person of Interest and Five-Year-Old Daughter Sought in West Adams Homicide NR26115cm

Los Angeles Police Department Robbery-Homicide Division detectives, along with the Los Angeles Police Department Gang and Narcotics Division-United States Marshals Fugitive Task Force and the FBI Los Angeles Field Office, have been working with United States Marshals Service agents in Mexico to locate the murder suspect and his five-year-old daughter, whom he fled with to Mexico.

United States Marshals Service agents in Mexico have been working closely with Mexican authorities throughout this investigation. Detectives learned this weekend that the suspect, Ruben Fregoso, had been taken into custody in Mexico. His five-year-old daughter, Daleyza Fregoso, a United States citizen, was also located safely and is in the custody of Mexican officials.

In the coming days, officials at the United States Embassy in Mexico will begin returning Daleyza Fregoso to her family. In addition, the extradition process will begin for Ruben Fregoso, who has been charged with murder by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

The Los Angeles Police Department thanks Mexican authorities, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the United States Marshals Service for their assistance in this investigation.

 

West Adams: Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Robbery-Homicide Division, South Bureau Section, are seeking the public’s assistance in locating a person of interest in connection with the death of a woman.

On Monday, May 25, 2026, at 12:39 p.m., Southwest Area patrol officers responded to a radio call for a welfare check in the 2600 block of South Alsace Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered an adult female deceased inside the residence. Preliminary investigation indicates the victim died as a result of violence.

The victim’s husband, Ruben Fregoso, has been identified as a person of interest in the investigation. Fregoso and the victim’s five-year-old daughter, Daleyza Fregoso, are currently missing. Investigators have learned that Fregoso made statements indicating he intended to flee the country.

Detectives are actively seeking information regarding the whereabouts of Ruben Fregoso and Daleyza Fregoso.
