Los Angeles: The holiday season is always a special time of year. It is also a time when busy people become careless and vulnerable to theft and other holiday crimes. The Los Angeles Police Department wants everyone to have a secure and happy season by taking a minute from the rush to read and apply the following Holiday Crime Prevention measures.
To further lessen the chances of becoming a victim during the holiday season, the following objectives should be stressed:
Avoid wearing expensive jewelry.
Keep all car doors locked and windows closed while in or out of your car.
Do not leave packages on the seat of your car. This creates unnecessary temptation for thieves.
When approaching and leaving your vehicle, be aware of your surroundings.
Avoid carrying large amounts of cash.
Keep cash and wallets in your front pocket.
Teach your child to go to a store clerk and ask for help if they become lost or separated.
Commander Sharon Papa, Department spokesperson, states, "We have attempted to establish a crime prevention-minded attitude during the holiday season. This information is meant to contribute to the safety and security of people during the holidays. We can never be too careful, prepared, or aware."
