Pitbull Charges Officers

Los Angeles: A Los Angeles police officer assigned to the 77th Street Police Station shot at and missed a Pitbull who charged him on June 27, 2007.

Around 6:00 p.m., Officer Jeritta Severns and his partner saw a narcotic transaction take place between two men in the front yard of a home located in the 1200 block of West 54th Street.
During a foot chase, Officer Jeritta Severns, 32, 8 years with the Department, encountered a Pitbull on the side of the residence. Severens fired one shot at the dog and missed.

No officers or citizens were injured.

77th Area Detectives are conducting the investigation.
