"Police Station Open House and Haunted Jail"

The Los Angeles Police Department’s Foothill Area Community Police Station will be holding its annual open house festival on Saturday, October 28, 2000 from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. This event is sure to be a crowd pleaser for the entire family. Highlighting the affair will be a "Haunted Jail" replete with ghosts and goblins. A frightening Halloween experience themed, "Jail is a scary place where you DO NOT want to be." In addition, there will be games, candy, and prizes for children, two costume contest parades for kids of various age groups at 12:30 p.m. and 2:00 p.m., and a bicycle safety course by "Safe Moves" on the station grounds. Of course, there will be lots of music! Once aspect of Mayor Riordan’s Make a Difference LA Program will be featured at the Scare Away Illiteracy reading booth where stories will be read by police officers and special guest readers.

The public is invited to observe the day to day workings of police officers while being provided guided tours of the police station including a visit to a firearm-training simulator. There will be police dog demonstrations, children’s fingerprinting, community health care information, a moon bounce, a S.W.A.T. team exhibit and many other police displays. Come by and visit with police officials, Councilman Alex Padilla and Senator Richard Alarcon.

Best of all, this fun-filled day of activities is FREE to the public.
