"Police to Conduct Zero-Tolerance Task Force in Van Nuys Area"
 

Los Angeles: On Wednesday, September 4, 2002, dozens of Los Angeles Police Department officers from Van Nuys Area, Valley Traffic Division, and Valley Bureau Headquarters will focus on violent crime and community quality of life issues in an effort to reduce crime in the San Fernando Valley.
The focus area is bordered by the Southern Pacific Railroad tracks on the north, Oxnard Street on the south, the 405 Fwy on the west and Woodman Avenue on the east.
Operations will commence at 8:00 a.m. and will continue past midnight. There will be zero-tolerance for traffic violations and criminal acts in the affected area.
Past task forces in other parts of the Valley have resulted in hundreds of traffic citations and vehicle impounds, and dozens of arrests.
Other similar task forces to combat violent crime and improve the quality of life will be conducted in other parts of the San Fernando Valley.
