Postal Worker Murdered in Devonshire

On Tuesday, August 10, 1999 at approximately 11:53 a.m., residents along the 9900 block of Valley Circle Blvd, in Chatsworth, reported hearing several gunshots. Area residents discovered a United States Post Office mail carrier had been struck by gunfire in front of a residence located at 9944 Valley Circle Blvd. Paramedic personnel responded to the location and discovered the victim had died as a result of multiple gunshot wounds in the upper body.

Devonshire Division Homicide personnel responded and conducted the crime scene investigation. Preliminary information has not revealed a description of the suspect or a possible vehicle. Attempts to locate witnesses are continuing. The motive for the slaying remains under investigation by Devonshire Homicide, with assistance from personnel of the United States Postal Inspectors Office.

The victim has been identified as Joseph Ileto, a thirty-nine year-old resident of Chino Hills.
