The Los Angeles Police Department’s West Traffic Division is investigating two fatal Hit and Run traffic collisions that occurred in March 2001. Both collisions occurred on Venice Boulevard between Crenshaw Boulevard and 5th Avenue.
On March 27, 2001 at approximately 3:45 p.m., a SUV type vehicle struck 21 year old Miguel Lewis while he was riding his bicycle at the intersection of Venice Boulevard and Crenshaw Boulevard. The collision caused severe injuries, which Mr. Lewis died from. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene without identifying him/herself or rendering aid to Mr. Lewis.
On March 30, 2001 at approximately 7:15 p.m., a red SUV type vehicle struck 42 year old Demitrius Alleyne as he walked crossed Venice Boulevard at 5th Avenue in an unmarked crosswalk. The driver of the red SUV fled the scene westbound Venice Boulevard without identifying him/herself or rendering aid to Mr. Alleyne.
The City of Los Angeles is offering a $25,000.00 reward for each case to anyone providing information that leads to the identity, arrest and conviction of the Hit and Run Felony suspect(s).
