Why:
Rampart Area personnel will be hosting a lunch for the victims of Hurricane Katrina.  Over 300 evacuees whose homes were destroyed in the recent disaster in the Gulf region have been flown to Los Angeles, and are currently housed at the Dream Center.
When Rampart Area personnel became aware of this fact, they sought ways to alleviate the suffering of the disaster victims and to ease their transition into the new environment.  One of the first community partners to offer assistance in this endeavor was La Curacao, located at 1605 West Olympic Boulevard, in the Pico-Union District.  La Cuacao has generously donated 500 luncheon meals, which will be served at the Dream Center to all of those displaced by Hurricane Katrina.
Desserts and other items are being donated by Rampart personnel as well as variety of community groups.  It is hoped that this gesture will help welcome and comfort the victims who now find themselves in new surroundings away from their friends and loved ones.
