Rape Suspect Being Sought in Devonshire Area

What: Press Conference to Release Composite Drawing of Rape Suspect

Los Angeles: On April 23, 2003, at approximately 6:50 p.m., the victim, a 34 year-old Hispanic woman, was walking westbound on the north side of Devonshire Street approaching DeSoto Avenue. Suddenly, a lone male suspect in a white vehicle stopped next to the victim and exited his vehicle. The suspect then walked towards the woman, pulled out a knife and forced her into the nearby bushes. The suspect proceeded to sexually assault the victim. The suspect fled the location in his vehicle westbound on Devonshire Street.
There have been no similar incidents reported in the area.
The suspect was described as a male Black, black hair, brown eyes, 5’9"-6’0", 200-230 lbs., approximately 30 years of age. The suspect’s vehicle was a white, older model four-door with tinted windows. The vehicle bears an old California license plate (yellow numbers and letters on blue plate).
A Community Alert Bulletin containing a composite drawing of the suspect has been prepared and is available for public distribution.
