Why:
The Los Angeles Police Department will host a recognition awards ceremony.  There will be 139 sworn and civilian department employees who will be honored with the Police Meritorious Unit Citation and the Human Relations Medal.  These individuals are being recognized by the Department for bravery or outstanding service as a member of an organizational unit, or for showing great compassion and having gone beyond the call of duty in their response to fellow human beings.
