WHO: LAPD Captain III Lillian Carranza, Commercial Crimes Division (CCD) LAPD Lieutenant II Francis Boateng, CCD/Burglary Special Section (BSS) LAPD Detective III Mel Vergara, CCD/BSS

WHY: In the 1990’s a series of burglaries occurred in West Bureau under the jurisdiction of the Los Angeles Police Department. Numerous paintings and artifacts were taken from residential homes while the occupants were away.

In June 2019, CCD detectives were notified of stolen art work depicted on the LAPD Art Theft website. The case led to the recovery of over one hundred works of art and artifacts pending investigation. Detectives are working diligently to locate victims and seeking the public’s assistance in returning the recovered art and artifacts to its rightful owner(s).
