Detective II John Padilla, Serial NO.  22782 will sign on for his last working day as a Los Angeles Police Detective; he will retire after a 30 year tour of duty.  For his last roll call, his son John Padilla Jr., will join him.  John Padilla Jr. is a Police Officer II currently assigned to Central Division patrol.  Detective Padilla and his son will have the opportunity to work together on this day for his final working assignment.

Detective Padilla joined the Los Angeles Police Department on December 15, 1980, after graduating from the Academy, Detective Padilla was assigned several assignments with LAPD including working the C.R.A.S.H. unit as a Detective Trainee. In 2001 he was promoted to Detective and in November 2008, Detective Padilla transferred to Hollenbeck Detective Division where he completed his distinguished career.  Detective Padilla has distinguished himself in his service to the community and the Los Angeles Police Department by receiving 87 commendations.  Detective Padilla has served the City and the Department with honor and commitment for 30 years.
