December 23, 2010

Los Angeles:  Today, Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) West Valley Homicide detectives held a news conference and displayed high-quality images of three suspects responsible for a robbery and an attempted murder that happened in Northridge.  The detectives are asking for the public’s help in providing any information that would lead to the arrest of the suspects responsible for this crime.

On Dec. 15, 2010, at 9:35 p.m., West Valley Area officers responded to a radio call of a shooting at a medical marijuana clinic located in the 8200 block of White Oak Avenue.  When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered two victims suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.  Los Angeles City Fire Department paramedics responded and treated the victims before transporting them to local hospitals.  The victims are in critical and stable condition at this time.

The detectives’ investigation revealed that the location of the shooting was a medical marijuana co-op center.  Detectives say three suspects arrived at the location in a tan, late-model Nissan Titan pickup truck.   Once inside the business, two of the suspects pulled out handguns and shot at the victims.  One of the victims armed himself with a handgun kept in the business for security and returned fire, but he was incapacitated when he was shot by the suspect(s).  Both victims were employed at the business.

The suspects then removed what they believed was the operating video recorder, a small amount of marijuana and an undetermined amount of cash before leaving in the car described above.

The suspects are described as male Hispanics.  The first suspect has a thick mustache and was wearing a blue and white knit ski cap with ear covers.  He was also wearing a black, hooded jacket and blue jeans.  He stands between 5 feet 1 and 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs around 170 pounds.  He was carrying a handgun.

The second suspect has short brown hair, a mustache and heavy eyebrows.  He was wearing a dark, hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.  He stands between 5 feet 7 and 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs around 170 pounds.  He was also carrying a handgun.

The third suspect was described wearing dark pants, a zip-up jacket and a black New York Mets baseball cap.

Photographs of the suspects and their car were obtained from the working video recorder that was located by detectives during the investigation at the crime scene.   To view the photographs online, go to www.lapdonline.org.
