Robbery Spree Suspects Arrested NR24116kt/dm

Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department’s (LAPD) Newton Area detectives announce the arrest of an adult male and juvenile female in a series of armed robberies in the Los Angeles County area.

On April 6, 2024, LAPD Newton Area patrol officers responded to a radio call of an armed robbery in progress at a local convenience store near the 3200 block of South Central Avenue. Newton Area officers responded and were directed to the suspect’s vehicle fleeing the scene. Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop and were led on a vehicle pursuit. During the pursuit, a firearm was discarded by one of the occupants and was recovered by officers. Upon conclusion of the pursuit, both occupants of the vehicle, an adult male and juvenile female, were detained.

During the investigation, it was determined that both occupants of the vehicle were involved in the armed robbery in which a large amount of currency was taken. Officers recovered the currency from the vehicle. Additional investigation revealed that the suspect vehicle was taken in an armed carjacking in Hollenbeck Area earlier that same day. The adult male and juvenile subject are also believed to be involved in additional armed robberies in the City of South Gate, City of Azusa and additional crimes in the Los Angeles area.

The male suspect has been identified as 18-year-old Nathen Sanchez, a resident of the Los Angeles area. Sanchez was arrested for 211 PC: Robbery with $175,000 bail, booking number 6787937. The juvenile subject is a 12-year-old female.

Newton Area detectives are searching for any additional victims in the LA county area.
