Safe Driving Around Schools

What:
Councilmember Jack Weiss will join representatives from the Los Angeles Police Department, Los Angeles School Police Department, Los Angeles Unified School District, and Westwood Charter Elementary School to showcase the school’s parent volunteer valet program and remind drivers to use extra caution when children are walking around schools.

Why:
As the new school year begins, drivers are reminded to be extra cautious when driving around school campuses. With parent involvement and assistance from the City’s Department of Transportation and local law enforcement, schools can implement volunteer "valet" programs to make drop-offs safer for young students.
