Los Angeles: On May 4, 2026, the Los Angeles Police Department’s (LAPD) West Los Angeles Division Officers responded to the 1500 block of Rexford Drive for a Burglary (Hot Prowl). The victim was inside his residence when he heard a loud bang on his glass sliding door. The victim reviewed his surveillance cameras and observed a male making entry into his residence. In fear for his life the victim locked himself inside the bathroom and called 911.
Officers arrived and discovered the front door open. Officers observed a male white, wearing, a black hoodie, black pants inside the residence. The suspect fled the location and perimeter was established. Officers located the suspect, and a short foot pursuit ensued. The suspect was subsequently taken into custody without incident.
The suspect was identified as 22-year-old Kevin Diaz, a resident of Los Angeles. West Los Angeles Detectives identified the suspect belonging to a South American Theft Group. Detectives connected the suspect to approximately 25 burglaries throughout the city. 14 of these crimes occurred in the Valley Bureau. The crimes occurred in multiple divisions, including West LA, Olympics, Southwest, Devonshire, Mission and West Valley. Diaz was arrested and booked at Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) for 459 PC – First-Degree Residential Burglary under booking No. 7233135. His bail was set at $50,000.
