WHO: Captain Blake Chow, Commanding Officer, Hollenbeck Area
Hollenbeck Burglary Detectives

WHY: During the month of July and August of 2008, Hollenbeck Area had been plagued with 20 commercial burglaries at a public storage facility located at 649 South Boyle Street. Detectives developed leads and determined the burglaries occurred in the early morning hours by renters of the storage facility.

On August 27th, detectives staked out the location. At around 6:30 AM, detectives saw a green GMC Yukon pull up. Two suspects got out of the SUV and walked into the storage facility. Detectives followed the pair and detained them on the second floor. At the time of arrest, the suspects were in possession of burglary tools and several boxes of stolen items.

Additional stolen items were found at the suspect’s residence. Investigators confirmed the items were stolen from various storage units in the past month.

The victims of these burglaries will attempt to identify their recovered stolen items between 4:00 to 6:00 PM. Some victims have already been notified of the recovery and will be available for interviews, including the extremely grateful person who will claim her guitar collection.
