Serial Robbery Suspect Sought

Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department’s Wilshire Robbery Detectives will be conducting a press conference to seek the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect known as the "Knife Bandit."
Over a three and one half month span, dating from December 2001 through March 2002, the suspect has committed a minimum of 13 street robberies in the area of Crenshaw Boulevard and Pico Boulevard. The suspect approaches lone male Hispanics on foot and demands the victims’ property at knife point. Many of these robberies occurred in the early morning hours, between 4:30 a.m. and 6:00 a.m.
The suspect is described as a dark-skinned male Hispanic, black hair, brown eyes, 5’4"-5’7", 140-160 lbs. The suspect may also have a gold cap or filling on one of his front tooth. The suspect speaks Spanish with a possible South or Central American accent.
