WHY:
On October 1, 2022, a female pedestrian (Elsa Zelaya) and her 3-year-old child (Dominick Zelaya) were crossing the street on Broadway and 80th St when a black compact SUV traveling northbound Broadway at a high rate of speed crashed into them. Three-year old Dominick Zelaya was launched airborne after being struck, causing him to have a secondary collision with the roadway. The driver of the small SUV fled the scene northbound at a high rate of speed without stopping, rendering aid or identifying him/herself.

Elsa sustained minor injuries while Dominick sustained severe life-threatening injuries. Dominick recently underwent surgery and is currently being monitored at Children’s Hospital.

We’re releasing video/images of the suspect’s vehicle and announcing the $25,000 reward for any information leading to the identity, arrest and conviction of the person responsible for striking severely injuring Dominick Zelaya and his mother Elsa Zelaya.
