Shooting Death of 33-Year-Old Man in Northeast Division NR14246lp

Los Angeles:  Northeast Homicide Detectives are investigating the shooting death of 33-year-old Lavell L. Smith.

On June 29, 2014, around 5:20 a.m., uniformed officers from the Northeast Patrol Division responded to a call of an ambulance shooting in the 1100 block of N. Vermont Avenue.  Upon their arrival, they discovered the victim, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded and transported Smith to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

The suspect is described as a male, black, black hair, between the age of 20/25, with a goatee and two braids.

The investigation is ongoing and is possibly gang related.
