"Shooting Investigation in 77th Street Area"
 

Los Angeles – On Saturday, July 7, 2001 at approximately 8:00P.M., victim Tamile Cooper, a female Black, 19 years-old, was standing in front of the 5200 block of South Wilton Place. The victim was attending a party with other friends when four suspects, described only as male Blacks, approached and fired numerous rounds at the group. The suspects then entered a vehicle, described only as a gray compact vehicle, and fled the scene.
Tamile Cooper sustained multiple gunshot wounds to her upper and lower torso. She was transported to a local hospital where she failed to respond to treatment and succumbed to her injuries. The remaining victims were also transported to local hospitals and they are expected to recover from their injuries.
The motive for this incident is unknown.
The suspect(s) and weapon remain outstanding.
