Shooting Leaves One Man Dead NR22003dm

Panorama City: Homicide detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Valley Bureau are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect responsible for the shooting death of 42-year-old Benito Garcia.

On December 27, 2021, around 2:10 p.m., Mission Area officers responded to a shooting call in the 13900 block of Saticoy Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was a person experiencing homelessness.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded and transported the victim to a local hospital. On December 30, 2021, the victim succumbed to his injuries and died.

Preliminary investigation revealed the victim was standing on the sidewalk when the suspect, who was involved in a verbal dispute with another man, approached the victim and shot him. The shooting appears to have been unprovoked.

The suspect fled east on Saticoy Street, stole a bicycle from a nearby homeless encampment, and fled the area.

There is no suspect information.
