Update Homicide Arrest Announcement

On Thursday, August 27, 2020, members of the LAPD & FBI Fugitives Task Force arrested a 17-year-old for the murder of Semaj Miller. Today, August 31, 2020, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office filed one count of murder on a juvenile. We appreciate the community support and involvement throughout the investigation.

Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department South Bureau Homicide detectives are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a homicide suspect.

On Wednesday, July 29, 2020, at approximately 2:20 p.m., Los Angeles Police Southeast Area patrol officers responded to 100 block of East 87th Place for a shooting radio call.

Upon their arrival they located Semaj Miller, a male Black, 14 years old, lying in the driveway of the location. Miller was unconscious, unresponsive, and later pronounced deceased.

The motive for the incident is unknown. The suspect(s) remain outstanding.
