Shooting Leaves Victim In Critical Condition

Los Angeles: On Saturday, May 8, 2004, at about 10:45 p.m., 20 year-old Ashley Ferguson Brantley was standing on the front porch of a friend’s house, located at 1046 West 79th Street. An unknown suspect walked up and fired several rounds at Mr. Brantley. One of the bullets struck him in the head and he collapsed on the front porch. Los Angeles Fire Department Paramedics responded and transported the victim to Martin Luther King Jr. Hospital, where he is listed in critical condition. The suspect was seen running east on 79th Street towards New Hampshire Avenue. He got into a dark colored SUV that was parked on New Hampshire Avenue and then drove away southbound.
The motive for this homicide is currently unknown.
The suspects and weapon remain outstanding.
