"Shots Fired in Watts Results in 3 Victims in Stable Condition"

Los Angeles – On Saturday, July 29, 2000, at approximately 11:10 a.m., Southeast uniformed patrol officers responded to a radio call of " Shots Fired" in the area of 114th Street and Success Avenue. Upon officers arrival they found two victims, a 19 year-old, male Black, and a 23 year-old female Black, suffering from gunshot wounds.

The preliminary investigation revealed the victims had been shot by three (3) male Black suspects and that the shootings could be gang-related. There is no further description of the suspects. Following the shootings however, the suspects got into a dark blue or black Chevrolet Suburban and fled southbound on Success Avenue and then turned in an unknown direction onto Imperial Boulevard. Another 19 year-old male Black victim of the shooting drove himself to a local hospital where he was treated for a gunshot wound to the thigh. All three victims are reported in serious but stable condition.

The motive for the incident is unknown at this time.
