The LAPD Ice Hockey Team will be teaching approximately 40 children from the Union Rescue Mission and South Los Angeles community how to ice skate.

WHY:
Angelinos may not be aware that there are many children who are impacted by homeless-related issues or who may not have the opportunity to experience events such as ice skating. The Los Angeles Police Department, and personnel assigned to both Central and 77th divisions, continuously work with the local missions and community organizations to provide these children with opportunities that they might not otherwise get to experience.

The Los Angeles Police Department Ice Hockey Team, Olympic Figure Skater Tai Babilonia and the LA Kings will come together to help teach these children how to ice skate. In addition, the Los Angeles Police Foundation will be handing out gifts to the children and food will be provided by the Lazy Dog restaurant. This experience will undoubtedly give these kids hope, inspiration and continue to foster a great relationship with the officers who are dedicated to protecting them.
