Sobriety & Driver’s License Checkpoint

Los Angeles: On Friday, August 3, 2001, at approximately 8:00 p.m., the Los Angeles Police Department’s Central Traffic Division will be conducting a combined sobriety and driver’s license checkpoint on Alvarado Street between Wilshire Boulevard and 6th Street. The purpose of the checkpoint is to focus attention on education and enforcement of impaired and unlicensed drivers. Officers will attempt to utilize the checkpoint in reducing traffic collisions caused by operating a motor vehicle upon the roadway while under the influence. Officers will also heighten the public awareness, and at the same time enforce the law.
