Solo Collision Kills Man Inside Parking Garage NR24109dc

Los Angeles: On April 3, 2024, around 8:00 a.m., a fatal solo traffic collision occurred in the 800 block of South Kingsley Drive.

The driver was inside the subterranean parking garage of his residence when he reversed and collided with a concrete pillar. The driver drove forward and exited his vehicle to inspect the damage. As he was inspecting the damage, the vehicle’s reverse lights engaged, and the vehicle proceeded to roll backward. The driver attempted to reenter his vehicle to regain control. The vehicle reversed at a high rate of speed and pinned the driver between the concrete pillar and the driver-side door. Family members eventually freed the driver.

Paramedics with the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the scene and transported him to a local hospital. The driver succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased by medical staff. The driver was a 59-year-old male resident of Los Angeles.

Currently, it is unknown if a mechanical failure or alcohol and/or drugs were a factor in this crash.
