Los Angeles: On June 10, 2024, around 3:50 a.m., hundreds of individuals participated in a street takeover. They arrived at Century Boulevard and Hoover Street, illegally blocked the flow of traffic, and performed illegal and dangerous stunts (donuts and burnouts). Simultaneously, an AutoZone located on the 600 block of West Century Boulevard was burglarized by approximately 50-75 of the street takeover participants. The loss of property was estimated at $67,000.
One suspect was taken into custody after leading responding officers in a vehicle pursuit. Officers recovered approximately $1,200 dollars of stolen merchandise from the suspect’s vehicle. The suspect, 24-year-old Danny Sanchez, a resident of Los Angeles, was arrested and booked for Vehicle Code section 2800.2 (A) – Felony Reckless Evading of a Police Officer. The case was presented to the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office and felony charges were filed for Penal Code section 459 – Second Degree Burglary, Penal Code section 490.4(a) – Organized Retail Grand Theft, and Vehicle Code section 2800.2 – Reckless Evading of a Police Officer.
The LAPD Organized Retail Crime Task Force (ORCTF) would like the public’s assistance in identifying additional suspects. The suspects have shown a complete disregard for the safety and property of others. There is a wide range of suspect descriptions, but the suspects are believed to belong to street takeover groups.
