UPDATE
Marguise Jackson was pronounced dead at scene and was not transported and pronounced at a local hospital.
Los Angeles: A 22-year-old man lost his life when his speeding car went out of control and collided with a mini-van going in the opposite direction.
On October 4, 2008, at a few minutes before midnight, Marquise Jackson was driving his 2001 Ford Mustang southbound on LaCienega Boulevard near 64th Street. Jackson hit the center median, losing control of the car, sending it into the northbound lanes and crashing into a 1995 Mercury Villager.
Two occupants of the mini-van, along with Jackson, were transported to a local hospital for treatment. Jackson was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital. The other two victims were treated for their injuries and are expected to make a full recovery.
Investigators believe that excessive speed was the primary cause of the collision.
West Traffic Officers Daniel Veliz and Mynor Godinez conducted the on scene investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact West Traffic Division Detectives at 213-473-0234.
