Speeding Vehicle Leaves Three Dead

Los Angeles: On Sunday, March 9, 2003, at approximately 2:48 a.m., a triple fatal traffic collision occurred in the 500 block of West Avenue 28.
Issa Michel, a 21 year-old resident of Los Angeles, was driving his 2001 BMW 330I, eastbound on Avenue 28, when he lost control of his vehicle. The vehicle, which was being driven at a high rate of speed, made contact with the curb, overturned and struck a pole.
The impact of the collision resulted in the death of the driver and his passengers, Carlos Villagas, a 20 year-old resident of Los Angeles and Edward Lopez, a 23 year-old resident of Los Angeles.
Los Angeles Fire Department Paramedics responded and pronounced all three dead at scene.
