Stolen Car Crash Kills Unborn Child

Los Angeles: On December 6, 2006, shortly after 3:00 p.m., a 14-year-old boy, driving a stolen pick-up truck, crashed into a Chevy Cavalier, which was being driven by an 8-month pregnant woman.

According to investigators, the teenager was driving northbound on Towne Avenue when he ran a stop sign and collided with the expectant mother’s car at Century Boulevard.

Regina Roberts, 24, was taken to a local hospital where she is listed in serious condition. Following emergency surgery, doctors discovered that the unborn child had died.

The teenager suffered major head injuries, and remains hospitalized in critical condition.

The pick-up truck was stolen at 9:30 a.m., the same day in South Los Angeles Officer Ravega said.
