Store Owner Robbed and Killed

On Wednesday, February 3,1999 at approximately 10:00 a.m., Victim Chung Bok Hong was robbed in front of her place of business located at 2204 West 54th Street. During the robbery, Victim Edward Hong, attempted to disarm Suspect #1. Suspect #1 shot Edward Hong striking him in the leg.

Suspect#1 grabbed a bag that contained an unknown amount of money and fired additional shots into the victims direction. One of the shots struck Victim Chung Bok Hong. Suspect #1 then fled the location and entered an awaiting 1978 Pontiac Trans AM, red in color driven by Suspect #2. The Suspects fled from the scene and abandoned the vehicle in the area of 48th Street and Arlington Avenue. It is unknown at this time how the suspects continued their flight from the area.

Victim Chung Bok Hong was transported to a local area hospital where she succumbed to a gun shot wound. Victim Edward Hong, who is the son of Victim Hong, was treated and released for a gun shot wound at a local hospital. The Victim’s husband, Jung Hong was present when the incident occurred. Mr. Hong was not injured.
